   B3110 & Brassknocker Hill     8 February, 2014
Dear All
Just to reassure everyone that I am putting as much pressure on as I reasonably can to get the road open ASAP. I have been corresponding with the Divisional Director, Matthew Smith, who has detailed with me how they have been progressing.  Unfortunately, some of this has to be confidential because of the involvement of private parties.  However, you will no doubt be interested to see the following, into which I have been copied -
"The stability of the embankment is difficult to access until we start work and this is made more complicated by the current weather now and what is predicted over the weekend.  It will be difficult to provide a clear way forward until the excavation starts but we are determined to resolve this as soon as possible.

On a positive note we have managed to bring the works forward and these will start today.  This may enable us to get one lane open later next week.

The Brassknocker resurfacing scheme is required with some urgency now as the existing surfacing is deteriorating at a significant rate.  We are however exploring if this could be done as a night time operation to help minimise disruption but again this will depend on weather conditions amongst other factors.

We will be in touch as the situation develops.

Kind regards

Steve Blackmore
