Be a Bright Spark and recycle your small electrical items    17 November, 2016

On Saturday 19th November, a Bright Sparks electrical recycling event will be held at the Percy Community Centre, New King Street, Bath, BA1 2BN, where broken items like hairdryers, toasters, drills and other small electrical items can be handed in.

Anyone who brings along a small electrical item for recycling will be entered into a draw to win a £50 prize. The event, which takes place between 10am and 12pm, also includes refreshments and an electrical recycling roadshow.

Councillor Martin Veal (Conservative, Bathavon North), Bath & North East Somerset Council’s Cabinet Member for Community Services, said: “We know people in Bath and North East Somerset take recycling very seriously. However, many people don’t realise that some of their smaller electrical items, which no longer work, like toasters, kettles, hairdryers and irons can also be recycled. This event is part of a series of sessions designed to reduce the amount of unnecessary waste, which could be recycled instead, being sent to landfill. We hope people will come along and get involved.”

Larger items like fridges and washing machines cannot be accepted.

Funding to run the Bright Sparks events has been awarded by the Distributors’ Take Back Scheme and Bath and North East Somerset Council is working in partnership with Curo at some of the events.
