HINTON CHARTERHOUSE PARISH COUNCIL
NOTICE OF CASUAL VACANCY
- There is a vacancy on Hinton Charterhouse Parish Council caused by the resignation of a Councillor.
- Notice of the vacancy was given on the 14th August 2018. No request was made to the B&NES Returning Officer for a by-election. Accordingly the Council intends to fill the vacancy by co- option.
- To be eligible to stand as a Councillor applicants must be a British National, European Union or Commonwealth citizen at least 21 years of age, an elector and living within three miles of the Parish for a minimum of twelve months, or someone with land or a primary place of business in the Parish. Persons who are declared bankrupt or if they have been convicted in the last five years or if they have engaged in corrupt or illegal activities are disqualified from applying.
- Applications for this position must be made in writing stating the relevant skills, knowledge and experience the potential candidate could bring to the role for the benefit of the local community.
- Applications must be submitted to the Parish Clerk at the address given above to arrive no later than 14th October 2018.
- Applications will be considered by the Council at its meeting on Tuesday 15th October 2018 which will be held in the Memorial Hall, High Street, Hinton Charterhouse, commencing at 8pm. Applicants should be available for interview at this meeting.
- In the event of more than one applicant for the position being received the applications will be considered by the Council and the person appointed will be the one receiving an absolute majority vote of those present and voting in accordance with the procedure set out in the Local Government Act 1972.
